Jeep’s iconic SUV – Wrangler is all set to enter into its fourth generation. First previewed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2017, the new Jeep Wrangler 2018 will make its way to our market by the end of 2018 or early 2019. Prior to its official launch, the carmaker imported the right-hand-drive (RHD) 3 and 5 door versions of the SUV and is currently testing it on Indian roads.
Similar to the current generation, the new model will be brought from the USA as CBU (Completely Built Unit). New Jeep Wrangler 2018 India Launch Date
The next-generation Jeep Wrangler first broke cover at the 2017 SEMA Show in Nevada, Las Vegas, followed by its public debut at the 2017 Los Angeles Motor Show. The SUV made its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. In India, the 4X4 SUV is currently in its final testing phase. New Jeep Wrangler 2018 Price in India
Currently, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited SUV is available with both petrol and diesel fuel guise. While the petrol version is priced at Rs 58.74 lakh, the diesel variant costs Rs 71.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Despite the new exterior and interior styling and comprehensive feature upgrades, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler price in India is expected to remain unchanged. New Jeep Wrangler 2018 India Exterior
Jeep India has already imported the 3-door and 5-door models of the new Wrangler. While the former was painted in Silver shade, the latter one gets Black paint job. Visually, the new Jeep Wrangler 2018 appears more rugged and premium than the outgoing model. The SUV receives comprehensive aesthetic updates, though it retains several design bits and elements from the current generation. It will continue to feature the ladder frame and high-strength steel body built. While the hood, windshield and doors will be composed of aluminum, the tailgate will be made up of magnesium.
The front bumper of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is slightly bigger, and looks bolder than before. The revised air vents on the front fenders add more to its new look. The signature vertically slatted grille and round headlamps are carried over from the current model. Though, the headlamps now get projector units, LED elements and LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The side windows are now mounted a little higher. It also gets foldable windshield. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler also features pronounced wheel arches with black cladding, new black door handles, ORVM and roof. The new Wrangler might receive an electrically powered black canvas soft-top. The company will also offer several windshield, door and top combinations with the SUV. Jeep claims that the new Wrangler has improved aerodynamics that will enhance its overall handling and driving dynamics. Similar to the current generation, the new model will come in a choice of six colour options – Black, Bright White, Billet Silver Metallic, Granite Crystal Metallic, Firecracker Red and Rhino.

Comprehensive changes have also been made inside the cabin. The carmaker has added a range of new comfort and connectivity features to the 2018 Jeep Wrangler carline. Though, the major update will come in the form of a new touchscreen infotainment system (Jeep’s UConnect infotainment system), which is compatible to Android devices, Siri support for Apple devices and Bluetooth connectivity. It will come with a 7.0-inch and an 8.4-inch touchscreen options. Both the displays have climate control systems, while the satellite navigation is available with the larger one. This interface will provide important information such as oil-pressure temperature, off-roading information, latitude, longitude and altitude. New Jeep Wrangler 2018 India Specifications & Performance
Engine setup of the global-spec 2018 Wrangler will remain intact. The SUV will continue to derive its power from the 3.6-litre V6 and the 2.0-litre petrol motors. It might also retain the existing 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. However, it will ditch the old 5-speed automatic gearbox for an 8-speed automatic transmission. All variants of the vehicle will come with a 6-speed manual transmission.
For the Indian market, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is likely to be offered with the same 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol and 2.8-litre CRD turbocharged diesel motors paired to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. The gasoline unit can produce a peak power of 245bhp at 6,350rpm and a peak torque of 347Nm at 4,300rpm, and the oil burner makes power worth 197.2bhp at 3,600rpm with 460Nm of torque between 1,600rpm – 2,600rpm. Rumour also has it that the SUV might also be offered with a mild hybrid system. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will continue to feature Command-Trac 4WD system along with the auto and four-wheel drive part-time (P-T). This system will deliver power to the front and rear tyres and enable them to move at the same speed. Jeep claims that the 2018 Wrangler will offer excellent off-road experience.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler comes with Chrysler’s latest UConnect infotainment system that supports Apple and Android devices along with Bluetooth connectivity. The overall cabin layout and ergonomics of the SUV is said to be improved. In order to improve comfort quotient of the car, Jeep will introduce a dual -zone climate control on the carline. Similar to the current model, the new-generation Wrangler will feature premium McKinley leather trim with embroidered stitching. The heated leather-trimmed front seats and illuminated cup holders will also be there. New Jeep Wrangler 2018 India Practicality
Interior layout of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler will remain unchanged. There will be generous storage space with its 60/40 split and fold-flat seats. The centre console and lockable easy-access storage bin with a dual stage lid tray will provide enough space to keep your valuable things. The SUV will also offer storage space under the rear cargo area along with the plus storage net on all doors. Interestingly, the Wrangler has washable interior with drain plugs.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will debut with the Dynamic Steering Torque technology. This system corrects the steering rate (both hydraulic and electric) according to your car’s speed and roads conditions. All variants of the SUV will continue to feature the multistage front airbags and reversing camera. The SUV will also get dynamic steering response system along with a range of new safety features. Though the engine details are yet to be revealed, it is reported to retain the existing powertrain setup.
