FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) recently took the wraps off the New Jeep Cherokee 2019 facelift at the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) in Detroit. The company says that the updated Cherokee features “a new, authentic and more premium design along with the addition of an all-new advanced 2.0-litre direct-injection inline four-cylinder engine that enhances performance and fuel efficiency”. With an aim to make it a more comfortable and practical machine, the company has revised its interior with lots new features and over 80 safety and security equipment.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokeee made its world debut at the North American International Auto Show, in Detroit. While the SUV will go on sale in US in the first quarter of 2018, its India launch is likely to happen sometime next year. New Jeep Cherokee 2019 Price In India
In Jeep’s US lineup, the Cherokee sits between the Compass and Grand Cherokee. The SUV carline will be spread across five trims – Latitude, Latitude Plus, Limited, Overland and the sporty Trail Rated Trailhawk. Production of the vehicle will take place in United States at the Belvidere Assembly plant in Belvidere, Illinois. In India, the 2019 Cherokee will be imported as Completely Built Units (CBU). While the existing model of the SUV comes within the price range of Rs 75.15 lakh and Rs 1.07 crore (ex-showroom), the facelifted one could be priced a bit higher. Jeep Cherokee 2019 Exterior
Comprehensive updates have been made on the face of the car. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee features horizontal bi-LED projector headlamp units with LED daytime running lights and indicators. It also gets well sculpted front bumper, dual LED fog lamps, a wide air dam and lightweight aluminium hood. Styling bits such as high-mounted fog lamps, more muscular black front bumper with tow hooks and the signature black band on the bonnet are exclusively offered on the range-topping Trailhawk variant.
Moving towards the sides, the SUV gets larger alloy wheels with black underbody, dual-pane sunroof with motorized sunshade, larger roof rails and black side cladding. Round the back, the 2019 Cherokee sports newly-designed LED taillamps, revised bumper with silver rear diffuser, new lightweight composite liftgate and dual chrome-tipped exhaust. The rugged Trailhawk variant gets protective steel skid plates underneath, higher fender flares and ride height, exemplary departure angles and 17-inch off-road tyres. Buyers will have 7 exterior colour options on the 2019 Jeep Cherokee, namely, Billet Silver, True Blue Pearl, Brilliant Black, Bright White, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl, Granite Crystal and Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl. The US-spec version is offered in 12 paint schemes.

Interior of the new Cherokee looks refreshing and more up-market than the current model. Features such as new high-gloss piano black finish and premium satin chrome tracer accents around the gear shifter bezels, air vent and radio enhance its premium appearance. It also gets soft touch interior trim and quality material through the door panels, upper instrument panel and armrests. Jeep claims that the seats of the new Cherokee have been “ergonomically designed that support the contour of the body”. The power adjustable heated/ventilated seats with memory function and premium cloth/Nappa leather upholstery further enhance its comfort quotient. One can adjust the second row seats in 60/40 ratio split. The luggage capacity has also been increased over 27 cubic feet. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee (US-spec) comes with the latest Uconnect systems with 7.0-inch, 8.4-inch and 8.4-inch NAV touchscreen display options. It also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The SUV’s facelift is claimed to be equipped with over 80 safety and security features. New Jeep Cherokee 2019 India Specifications
Engine setup of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee includes three units – a new turbocharged 2.-litre, four-cylinder, a 2.4-litre PZEV Multiair2 Tigershark, four-cylinder and a 3.2-litre Pentastar V6. All powertrains are paired to a high-efficient 9-speed automatic transmission. The new 2L turbocharged motor generates a top power of 266bhp with 400Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the high-efficient powertrains – 2.4L PZEV Multiair2 Tigershark and 3.2L Pentastar V6 – produce a maximum power output of 178bhp with 230Nm and 267bhp with 324Nm respectively.
In India, the Cherokee is, currently, available with three engine options – 3.0-litre V6 Eco diesel, 3.6-litre V6 petrol and a 6.4-litre petrol. The oil burner makes power worth 239.6bhp against 570Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 3.6L V6 and 6.4L, 8-cylinder gasoline units deliver 285.6bhp with 350Nm and 468.5bhp with 624Nm respectively. Technical details of the India-spec 2019 Cherokee facelift are yet to be confirmed.
