The Honda Envix sedan could influence the design of the new-generation Honda City.

Honda had unveiled the new Envix sedan at the 2018 Guangzhou Auto Show. This is basically the more affordable version of the Crider sedan, which is already on sale in the Chinese market. What’s interesting is that the Honda Crider sedan has also been patented in India. It is expected that the next-gen City sedan will take inspiration from the Crider.

Coming back to the Envix, this sedan is longer than the Civic sedan. However, it comes with a small turbocharged petrol engine. In recent times, Chinese market has witnessed several big cars with small engines to enjoy tax benefit. Moreover, demand for such vehicles has also been increased significantly in the past 5 years.

In terms of proportions, the new Envix sedan is 4,756mm in length, 1,804mm in width and 1,508mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,730mm. Compared to the Civic, it is 235mm longer, 5mm wider and 92mm taller. In fact, the wheelbase is around 30mm more than the Civic.

Powering the Honda Envix sedan is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 125bhp of power and 173Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox. What’s more interesting is that the Envix is less powerful than the Chinese-spec City sedan.

It is expected that the new-generation Honda City, scheduled to be launched in early 2020, will share design cues from the Crider and Envix sedans. In terms of styling, the Honda Envix sedan gets signature horizontal slat front grille, which mergest weel with the headlights. The bumper accommodates large air-intakes and LED daytime running lights.

Honda Envix alloys

The side profile has the teardrop design with prominent creases, while the wheel arches have been fitted to stylish alloy wheels. At the back, the sedan gets wraparound tail-lights which are interconnected via a strip. The boot lid gets a lip spoiler and bumper with rear fog lamp housings.
