Hyundai Styx QXi SUV Teased for the First time – Coming in April

The Hyundai Styx compact SUV will make debut on April 17, 2019

Hyundai is all set to introduce its smallest SUV, codenamed QXi in the Indian market. Set to make global debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show, the new sub-4 meter SUV is most likely to be called the Hyundai Styx. Ahead of the global debut, Hyundai has teased the new model via a video. For people not in the know, the five-seater compact SUV was first previewed as the Carlino concept at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The Hyundai Styx is also expected to make India debut in April, while launch is expected in the last week of May or early June 2019. The new model will be built on the new Santro’s platform, which will also underpin the new-gen Grand i10 hatchback. To be positioned below the Creta, the Hyundai QXi will challenge the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300.

The Hyundai Styx will come with boxy design, which is very similar to the Creta. It will share the styling cues from the bigger Hyundai cars including Kona crossover and the Santa Fe. It features the signature hexagonal front grille, newly styled headlamps and LED daytime running lights in a two-tier setup.

The rear profile seems identical to the Creta. It rides on the 16-inch machine cut dual-tone alloy wheels. The Styx will offer the most advanced interior in its category with features like ventilated front seats, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, etc. The small SUV is also see with electric sunroof. In terms of safety and security, the small SUV gets up to 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, hill hold assist and hill descent assist.

The Hyundai Styx will be available in 3 engine options – a 99bhp, 1.4-litre, a 89bhp 1.4-litre diesel and a 100bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic unit (1.0L turbo petrol only). The small SUV will be positioned between i20 and the Creta and is expected to be priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 12 lakh.
