New-Gen Mercedes-Benz GLA Debuts; Launch In Q3 2020
The new-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA, which had its world premiere a couple of months ago, has finally made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2020. The SUV’s all-new model will hit roads in the third quarter of this year (near around October). Official bookings for the 2020 Mercedes Benz GLA have been opened at a token sum of Rs 1 lakh.
Based on the brand’s latest design language, the new-generation Mercedes Benz GLA continues to carry the crossover-ish silhouette. Though, it has witnessed marginal dimensional changes. Compared to the previous model, the all-new GLA is 10mm taller and offers more headroom. Its wheelbase and track width have been increased by 30mm and 46mm respectively. The overall length, width and height of the SUV stand at 4410mm, 2020mm and 1611mm respectively.
Interior of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA is more feature packed and premium than before. The SUV gets a single-panel digital display for the instrument cluster along with Mercedes-Benz’s latest MBUX infotainment system with dedicated touchpads and voice command function. The dashboard with cleaner design, new trims and better quality materials add to its premium feel and appeal.
The 64 ambient lightings are now standard across the SUV lineup. In order to improve its safety, the carmaker has introduced the cornering and emergency lane functions along with radars and sensors to detect pedestrian crossing, an exit warning function and bake assist. Some of its design highlights include a diamond-pattern grille with a chrome slat, sweptback headlamps, sculpted lines on the bonnet and sides, squared wheel arches and all-new LED taillamps.
Engine setup of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA includes a 163bhp, 2.0L, 4-cylinder BS6 petrol and 190bhp, 2.0L turbo diesel unit, paired to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
