New 2021 Maruti Swift Vs Old – Major Differences

Maruti Suzuki recently introduced the updated Swift hatchback at a starting price of Rs 5.73 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model has received a few cosmetic and feature updates along with a new engine and three new colour schemes. Let’s see how the new 2021 Maruti Swift fares against the previous model.

Prices

Prices of the new Swift start from Rs 5.73 lakh for the entry-level LXI variant and its top-end model costs Rs 8.42 lakh. The hatchback has witnessed a price hike of around Rs 15,000 – Rs 24,000. The model lineup includes two new dual-tone variants – ZXi+ DT and ZXi+ DT AGS – priced at Rs 7.91 lakh and Rs 8.41 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom.

Extra Power

One of the biggest changes comes in the form of a new 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine replacing the 83bhp, old 1.2L K12 motor. The new petrol unit is more powerful and frugal than the old one. It returns a claimed power of 90bhp and 113Nm of torque (which remains unchanged). The new Maruti Swift 2021 can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT unit. More Mileage

Compared to the old engine, the new 1.2L Dualjet promises better fuel efficiency, thanks to its start/stop function. The 2021 Maruti Swift is claimed to deliver an ARAI certified mileage of 23.20kmpl and 23.76kmpl with manual and automatic gearbox respectively. The old Swift with 1.2L petrol engine offers 21.21kmpl.

Exterior, Interior Updates

The new Swift carries a slightly revised front grille featuring cross mesh patter and a chrome accent. Inside, the hatchback gets new fabric upholstery, a new audio head unit with feather touch controls, Bluetooth, AUX and USB connectivity. New Colours

The carmaker has introduced the 2021 Maruti Swift in three new colour schemes, namely, Sold Fire Red with Black roof, Pearl Arctic White with Black roof and Metallic Midnight Blue with White roof.
