The second-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be the next big launch from the Indo-Japanese carmaker in the country. While the carmaker hasn’t announced its launch timeline, it’s reported to hit showrooms in September 2021. Ahead of its official arrival, the patent renderings of the new 2021 Maruti Celerio have been leaked online giving us a fair idea of its final design.
Compared to the current generation that has squarish stance, the new one will carry more angular elements. A flattish-oval grille with honeycomb-like elements and new bumper with minimal creases give it refreshing looks. The triangular-shaped headlamps, which are rounded at the corners, are connected via a thin chrome strip.
The black elements on the fog lamp surrounds and apron further enhance its sporty front fascia. The angular creases will continue on the side profile. The long tapering roofline hints that the new Celerio will sit on a longer wheelbase and have larger glasshouse than the current model. The rear section will be revised with the newly-designed wraparound taillamps and bumper.
As of now, the interior details of the new 2021 Maruti Celerio are not available. Though, it’s reported to get a touchscreen SmartPlay Studio infotainment system that might support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The feature list might also include steering mounted controls, keyless entry & go, power adjustable and foldable ORVMs and many more goodies. Reports suggest that the new 2021 Maruti Celerio will underpin modular Heartect platform and come with “a new refined 1.2-litre petrol engine”. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the WagonR where it delivers power worth 83bhp with 113Nm of torque. The existing 1.0L petrol will also on offer. The motor pushes out a peak power of 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. The hatchback can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.
