Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is ready to give a generation change to its highly popular Celerio hatchback and Vitara Brezza compact SUV. Both models will witness significant cosmetic and feature upgrades along with more efficient powertrains. While the new Celerio is reported to hit roads in September 2021, the new Vitara Brezza is planned to launch in February at the 2022 Auto Expo.
According to a fresh media report, the 2022 Maruti Vitara Brezza will receive the brand’s new BS6-compliant 1.5L diesel engine. The carmaker’s Manesar based plant in Haryana will serve as production hub for the new powertrain. The report further claims that Maruti Suzuki’s BS6 1.5L diesel motor will be first introduced on the new XL6 MPV, followed by new Vitara Brezza, Ciaz and Ertiga. The power and torque figures of the BS6-compliant oil burner are yet to be revealed.
Besides the new diesel engine, the new Vitara Brezza is likely to come with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine boosted with stronger hybrid tech. The system will include larger battery and a more powerful electric motor. It will also make the new model comply with the upcoming CAFÉ standards. If reports are to be believed, the 2022 Maruti Vitara Brezza will switch to the brand’s lightweight Heartect platform. It could be modified version featuring high strength steel. The new architecture will make the compact SUV more rigid and safer. The carmaker is likely to pack the next-generation model with some new features such as wireless charger and factory-fitted sunroof. It might also receive a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The list is likely to include a digital instrument console, 6 airbags and more.
