Patent images of the much-awaited new gen Maruti Celerio have been leaked on the web world. The images reveals the design details of the hatchback, which is scheduled to be launched before Diwali 2021. The new Celerio have already been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads.
The new gen Maruti Celerio will be based on the Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform that also underpins the new S-Presso, Wagon R and the Swift. Thanks to the new platform, the new Celerio will grow in size that is evident from the leaked patent images.
Instead of the sharper design edges, the new gen Maruti Celerio comes with a more rounded design. The design elements are also inspired by the new Baleno hatchback. The hatchback retains the familiar front fascia, but has more modern design elements. It comes with a restyled front grille, flanked by bulbous-looking headlamps. The headlamps are connected via a thin strip that also houses the Suzuki’s logo.
The bumper design has been changed, as it features fog lamp housing, air-dam and visible creases. It also comes with re-styled rear profile that features new wrap-around tail-lamps, new bumper and new tailgate. The high-end variants will ride on newly styled 14-inch alloys, while the lower-end models will have steel rims.
The interior of the new gen Maruti Celerio has already been snapped during its road testing. The hatch will have all-new dashboard design with a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Centre console and steering wheel designs have also been changed.
The top-end model could get multi-functional steering wheel. Other features are likely to include a semi-digital instrument console, power windows, automatic AC, etc.
The 2021 Celerio will receive a 1.2-litre K12 petrol engine that also powers the WagonR hatchback. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. The hatchback will also offer the existing 1.0L 3-cylinder K10 petrol engine that offers 67bhp of power and 90Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
