Mitsubishi Attrage sedan to get diesel engine in India

Mitsubishi Attrage sedan to come India

We reported earlier that Mitsubishi is planning to launch the Attrage sedan and the Mirage hatchback in the Indian car market. If media reports are to be believed, Hindustan Motor Finance Corp is considering the Mitsubishi Attrage sedan and the Delica MPV for the Indian market. Currently, Mitsubishi sells the Pajero Sport in our market, which recently gets the AT version.

Speaking to Autocar professionals, Uttam Bose, managing director of HMFCL said that the Attrage sedan would be launched in the country in 2016-17. The company is doing studies before introducing the sedan in our market. Interestingly, the sedan will get a diesel engine which will be paired to a manual transmission gearbox.

The Attrage sedan is not a sub-compact sedan and it measures 4244mm in length, 1669mm in width and 1514mm in height. It has a good ground clearance of 170mm, while the wheelbase stands at 2550mm. The current model on sale globally is propelled by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder MIVEC engine that also powers the Mirage hatchback. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 76bhp and 100Nm of top torque. Power is transmitted to front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT gearbox.

Hindustan Motors is also aiming to launch the new Outlander and Montero SUVs in both petrol and diesel fuel options in the Indian market in 2015-16.
