MG Gloster, the new premium 7-seater SUV from the British carmaker, is slated to launch in India on 8th October, 2020. Customers can pre-book the vehicle by paying a sum of Rs 1 lakh at any MG dealership or online. In terms of pricing, the MG Gloster will take head-to-head against the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
Variants, Engine
The model lineup will come in four trims – Super, Sharp, Smart and Savvy – powered by a 215bhp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. All variants will get an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. While the Super and Smart trims will come with RWD (rear-wheel-drive), the Sharp and Savvy variants will be available with 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system. The SUV offers 7 drive modes, namely, Eco, Auto, Sport, Mud, Rock, Snow and Sand.
India’s First Level-1 Autonomous Car
MG claims that the Gloster is India’s first level-1 autonomous luxury SUV featuring advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). Segment-First Features
The new MG SUV comes with several segment-first features including shortpedia app, critical tyre pressure voice alert and anti-theft immobilization via smartphone. The Gloster has MG i-SMART technology that offers over 70 connected car features. The list also includes 3D maps from MapMyIndia, Apple Watch connectivity, a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, an 8.0-inch instrument cluster, three-zone auto climate control, fatigue reminder system, captain seats, LED cabin lights, panoramic sunroof, projector lens LED headlights, LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels and LED taillights.
On the safety front, you will also get dual front, side and curtain airbags, traction control, electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold control, roll movement intervention, hill descent control, and anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), brake assist, and rear disc brakes.
Seating Capacity

Colour Options
Buyers will have four colour options to choose from – Warm White, Metal Black, Metal Ash and Agate Red.
