MG Gloster SUV Unveiled – 9 Important Facts To Know

The long-awaited MG Gloster full-sized SUV has finally been unveiled for the Indian market. The SUV comes as a premium alternative to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the Skoda Kodiaq. Official bookings of the vehicle have been commenced across the nation. Interested buyers can pre-book it online or at any MG dealership by paying a sum of Rs 1 lakh. Prices of the Gloster are likely to be revealed next month.

1. Re-badged Maxus D90

2. Engine Specifications

The MG Gloster is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine that is capable of producing 215bhp of power and 480Nm of torque. In the global markets, the SUV also gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that offers 208bhp and 350Nm of torque.

The turbocharged diesel engine comes with 4WD system as standard. For transmitting power, the engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV also offers 7 driving modes – Automatic, Economy, Motion, Snow, Sand, Mud and Rock. Suspension mechanism includes dual Helix independent at the front and five-link integral at the rear. It gets all disc brakes.

3. Dimensions

In terms of proportions, the new Gloster is 4,985mm in length, 1,926mm in width and 1,867mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,950mm. The SUV has a fuel tank of 75-litres. 4. Advanced Driver Assistance Features

The SUV comes loaded with several high-end advanced driver assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, Hands-free automatic parking, radar guided cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, etc.

5. Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

The new Gloster is India’s first automonous (Level 1) premium SUV. It features autonomous emergency braking system that automatically applies brakes with full force on sensing an imminent frontal collision. There is frontal collision warning system providing a visual and audio alert to the driver if it detects a potential impact.

6. MG Gloster Interior

The cabin of the Gloster is largely similar to the Maxus D90. It features a dual-tone black and tan leather theme, seats with diamond-quilt pattern and captain seats for the second row of seats.
