MG eZS SUV India Launch Confirmed in December 2019

The MG eZS electric SUV will directly rival the upcoming Hyundai Kona EV.

The much-anticipated MG Hector 5-seater premium SUV will officially go on sale in India in the next 1-2 months. The company has also announced that it will launch 4 new models in India over the next 2 years. After Hector, MG Motor will bring its first electric SUV – MG eZS in India. The company has confirmed that the MG eZS SUV will go on sale in the country in December 2019.

India will be one of the markets for the newly unveiled MG eZS. The company will also launch this SUV in select international markets including UK, Germany, Australia, Thailand and Middle East. This model is expected to be imported in India as CBU. The company could later start local assembly of this model. MG eZS will target customers looking for the environment friendly cars. Moreover, this SUV also gets several segment-leading connected car applications.

Commenting on the MG eZS, Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India said, “We hope by the time we launch the vehicle; the government would have announced the much-needed subsidies and incentives for the EVs under the recently announced FAME II scheme so that the people are encouraged to by the environmentally friendly mobility solutions. MG Motor is planning to have a sales and service network of 120 outlets across India. The eZS electric SUV will be fitted with the company’s new iSMART Next-Gen technology, which will be debuted in the MG Hector SUV. Called the Internet Car, the MG Hector comes with in-built internet connectivity. It features Industry-first 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment and embedded M2M with Internet Protocol Version 6 that is ready for 5G.

While MG Motor is yet to reveal the exact specifications, it is expected that MG eZS could receive a 52.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a claimed range of over 400km. This battery pack is already in use in other cars sold by SAIC.
