Mercedes-Benz India is likely to launch the much-awaited CLA 45 AMG in the country in July, 2014. The German luxury car manufacturer is betting big on its performance AMG division and has already launched G63 AMG, E63 AMG, SLK55 AMG and the GL63. The company has updated its official website with the CLA 45 AMG which was unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. [Also Read: Mercedes-Benz A-Class and B-Class Edition 1]
The CLA 45 AMG is basically the performance version of the Mercedes CLA saloon, which is likely to go on sale by the end of this year or by early next year. Based on the A-Class platform, the CLA 45 AMG shares most of its styling components with the A45 AMG. This model will come to India via CBU route. [Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover- Preview]
Under the hood, the AMG spec Mercedes CLA gets the 2.0-litre, direct-injection turbo-petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 355bhp and a peak torque of 450Nm. It sprints to 0-100kmph in mere 4.6 seconds and catches a top speed of 250kmph, which is pretty impressive. This engine is paired to a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox which transmits the power to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
When it comes to safety, the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG gets nine airbags, adaptive brake with hold function as well as Attention assist. This model is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 60-65 lakh.
