We informed you earlier that Maruti Suzuki India is working on a premium hatchback, codenamed YRA, which will be positioned above the Swift hatchback. It will be a global hatchback and will launch globally next year. It will directly compete against the likes of New Hyundai Elite i20, upcoming new Honda Jazz and others in the segment.
The production guise spy image of the Maruti YRA gives us a clear view of the exterior styling. The pictures suggest that the vehicle shares the common family-look first seen on the Swift hatch. It is likely to be much wider than the Swift, which makes it spacious. The wide grille of the YRA premium car gets Suzuki’s honeycomb treatment which is complemented by sharper headlamps positioned at far corners. Also visible is the V-Shaped chrome surround at the bottom. The front bumper features wide air-intakes; fog lamp enclosure and vertical arrangement for daytime running lamps are also on offer.
Inside the cabin, the Maruti Suzuki YRA features bigger doors lock. The outside rear view mirrors are mounted on the doors instead of the normal positioning on the A-pillar. The spotted vehicle features smaller steel wheels, while the wing mirrors lacks turn indicators. However, the test mules spotted internationally sports large alloy wheels and integrated blinkers on the ORVMs.
Nothing official on the engine line-up has been revealed; however, the vehicle expected to get 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre diesel unit.
