Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel

Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the Celerio diesel in 2015. The diesel powered car has been spotted with a production body which further confirms the arrival of the highly anticipated vehicle. The spotted vehicle features a DDiS badge on its front fender. The badging suggests that the Celerio diesel is all set to hit production line shortly. Moreover, the badging was clearly visible along with seats featuring plastic covers.

The Celerio diesel is likely to be powered by a 792cc twin-cylinder turbo diesel engine that also powers the upcoming Y9T LCV. It will be the smallest turbo diesel motor that is expected to develop close to 50bhp of power. It is expected to return an excellent fuel economy of around 30kmpl, which will make it country’s most fuel efficient car. The Celerio diesel will take on the likes of Chevrolet Beat and Ford Figo. It is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 4.5-5.5 lakh.

If media reports are to be believed, a successful introduction of the Celerio diesel will bring in more turbo diesel powered Maruti Suzuki cars in India. The Wagon R is expected to be the next product to feature the smaller 792cc turbo diesel engine.
