Maruti Suzuki YRA premium hatchback (Baleno) snapped again

We reported earlier that Suzuki will launch a premium hatchback, Codenamed YRA, in the Indian car market in 2015-16. Recently, a Suzuki prototype was spotted testing which is speculated to be the company’s upcoming premium hatchback. This global hatchback is speculated to get Baleno Moniker; however, nothing has been confirmed on the same. Now, the same vehicle has been caught again while undergoing preliminary testing.

The Suzuki YRA premium hatchback will be positioned above the Swift hatchback and is likely to be tailored to the European market. If media reports to be believed, the Suzuki is aiming to bring back the “Baleno” nameplate with this model and is also likely to gain the same position previously occupied by the Liana hatchback (Phased out).

The spotted vehicle was fully covered, which indicates that the company is currently testing the early prototype. This also indicates that the vehicle will go on sale in 2016 while the unveiling could take place in seconds half of 2015. It is also speculated that the premium hatchback will be based on the SX4 S-Cross platform but official words are yet to come.

WorldCarFans members managed to click the vehicle and also revealed few details of the car. The spotted vehicle feature the Swift-sourced alloy wheels, lower front grille flanked by daytime running lights, roof-mounted spoiler and V-shaped upper front grille.

The Maruti Suzuki YRA premium hatchback is likely to get Suzuki’s all-new turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines, which are currently under development phase. The turbo petrol engine is expected to be the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder direct injection motor, codenamed K10 DiCT that develops 90bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. The details about the diesel turbo engine are scratchy.
