Maruti Suzuki Sales January 2023 – Growth Across All Segments

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has started the year 2023 on a profitable note. The Indo-Japanese automaker managed to sell 1,47,348 units against 1,28,924 units in the same month previous year. It recorded a YoY growth of 14.29 percent. The company witnessed growth across all segments including passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. The MoM sales increased by 31.55 percent. The company retailed 1,12,010 units in December 2022, which is 35,338 units lesser than the sales of January 2023.

In the entry-level (Alto and S-Presso) and compact car (Swift, Dzire, Celerio and Baleno) segment, Maruti Suzuki sold 25,446 units and 73,840 units respectively. In fact, its SUV sales also improved with total sales of 26,624 units as opposed to 35,353 units in December 2022. While the Maruti Ciaz sales declined to 1000 units from 1,666 units, the Eeco sales increased to 11,709 units from 10,528 units in January 2022.

Maruti Suzuki’s Upcoming Models

Maruti Suzuki has planned three major products for this year including – Fronx compact crossover, Jimny 5-door off-road SUV and a MPV based on the Toyota Innova Hycross. All aforementioned models will be retailed exclusively via Nexa dealerships. While the Maruti Fronx will go on sale in March, the Jimny will hit showrooms in May 2023. The new Maruti three-row MPV is expected to launch near around this year’s festive season.

Talking about the Fronx, the compact crossover will be offered with two engine options – a 1.0L turbo Boosterjet petrol and a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol. Both motors can be had with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There will also be two more gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed AMT (with NA petrol variant only) and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic (with turbo-petrol variant only). Maruti’s new compact crossover will go up against the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
