Over 47,900 Tata Cars Sold In Jan 2023 – 18% YoY Growth

Tata Motors managed to retail a total of 47,987 units in January 2023 as opposed to 40,777 units in the same month last year. The carmaker registered a YoY sales growth of 18 percent. Its MoM sales growth was increased by 19.84 percent, up from 40,043 units of December 2022. Its domestic and international sales stood at 79,681 units, which was up by 10 percent compared to 72,485 units in January 2022.

In Passenger Vehicle (PV) International Business (IB) last month, Tata retailed 302 units against 165 units in January 2022. It accounted 83 percent YoY growth in PV IB sector. The carmaker’s EV (electric vehicle) sales in IB and domestic market stood at 4,133 units, recording YoY growth of 39 percent against 2,982 units in the same month previous year.

The home-grown automaker has planned a range of all-new SUVs and electric vehicles along with the new-generation, facelifts, special editions of the existing models. This year, the company will bring in the electric iteration of the Punch mini SUV, Harrier and Safari facelifts and CNG versions of the Altroz hatchback and Punch micro SUV. Tata might also consider the Altroz Racer Edition for the Indian market. The sportier version of the hatch was recently showcased at this year’s Auto Expo. It will come with the 120PS, 1.2L turbo petrol engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox.

At the biennial event, the company unveiled its two new turbocharged petrol engines (a new 1.2L, 3-cylinder and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder) that will power the upcoming Tata cars and SUVs. In coming years, Tata Motors will introduce the production-ready versions of the Sierra and Curvv SUVs that will go up against the Mahindra Scorpio-N and Hyundai Creta respectively. Both models will be offered with electric and petrol powertrain options. Tata’s highly-popular Harrier SUV will also come with electric powertrain sometime next year.
