Toyota Kirloskar Motor has registered a YoY (Year-on-Year) sales growth of 75 percent with total sales of 12,835 units in January 2023. In the same month last year, the carmaker clocked sales of 7,328 units. When compared to December 2022 sales figure that stood at 10,421 units, Toyota recorded a MoM growth of 23.16 percent. The newly-launched Toyota Innova Hycross and Urban Cruiser Hyryder helped the company achieve significantly high sales numbers.
Launched in December 2022, the Toyota Innova Hycross comes in five trims (G, GX, VX, ZX and ZX (O)), which are priced from Rs 18.30 lakh – Rs 28.97 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Though, it’s deliveries were commenced a few days back in select cities. Based on the monocoque chassis, the MPV can be had with either a 2.0L, 4-cylinder Atkinson strong hybrid or a 2.0L non-hybrid petrol engine. While the former makes power worth 184bhp with an e-Drive transmission, the latter delivers 172bhp with 205Nm.
The Toyota Hyryder SUV, which was launched in September 2022, is available within the price range of Rs 13.23 lakh – 18.99 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Powertrain setup of the model includes Toyota’s 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle (92bhp/122Nm) and Suzuki’s 1.5L K15C (103bhp/137Nm) unit. There are three gearboxes on offer – an eCVT (with strong hybrid only), a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
Toyota’s Future Plan
The Japanese automaker is all set to relaunch the Innova Crysta with some updates and diesel engine only. Its prices will be announced in early weeks of February and deliveries will start in April 2023. The MPV will derive power from a 2.4L diesel engine and come with features such as an 8-inch Smart Playcast touchscreen infotainment system, a TFT MID, 8-way power adjust driver seat, 7 airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, front and rear parking sensors and more.
