Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director at MSIL, revealed during the launch of the Maruti Invicto hybrid MPV that the company aims to double its turnover by 2031.

New Production Facility

Construction work has begun at Maruti Suzuki’s new Kharkhoda manufacturing plant, which is expected to have an annual production capacity of 250,000 units by 2025. Once operating at full capacity, the facility will be capable of producing 1 million units annually. Additionally, the company has received board approval to set up capacity for an additional 1 million units.

Global Carbon Neutrality Target

Maruti Suzuki’s roadmap includes the launch of six electric vehicles (EVs) by the fiscal year 2030-31. It’s worth noting that Suzuki plans to achieve carbon neutrality in Japan and Europe by 2050 and in India by 2070. To reach these targets, the Japanese automaker will introduce carbon-neutral internal combustion engines (ICEs), such as those running on CNG, biogas, and ethanol-mixed fuels.

Electric SUV For India

In India, the first electric vehicle from Maruti Suzuki is expected to arrive in the third quarter of 2024. It will be the production version of the eVX concept and will compete against the Hyundai Creta EV and Tata Curvv EV. The first Maruti Suzuki EV will be based on a dedicated EV platform, offering a range of 550km on a full charge. This EV architecture will also be used for the company’s future EVs. Preliminary details suggest that the production version will have dimensions of approximately 4,300mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,600mm in height.

Future EV Plans

Specific names and details of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki electric cars have not been disclosed yet. However, an official image hints at the possibility of electric versions of the WagonR and Baleno hatchbacks, Fronx mini SUV, Grand Vitara midsize SUV, and Jimny lifestyle SUV.
