Maruti eVX Electric SUV India Launch in Q3, 2024

Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its green portfolio with multiple hybrid and fully electric cars along with the CNG variants, biogas and ethanol-gasoline mix fuels. Earlier this year, the company confirmed that it will bring in 6 new BEVs (battery electric vehicles) in India along with models co-developed with Toyota. While the carmaker remained tight lipped about the upcoming electric cars, the range is likely to include the production-ready eVX, Grand Vitara EV, Jimny EV, Fronx EV, Baleno EV and WagonR EV. Sources tell us that the Maruti eVX electric SUV will arrive in its final avatar in the third quarter of 2024 (i.e. around Diwali season).

Just so you know, the eVX concept was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. Its production-ready version will go up against the Hyundai Creta EV that’s reported to arrive in early 2025. Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car could be offered with a 60kWh battery pack with LFP blade cells. It will be based on the born-EV platform and claimed to offer a range of 550km on a single charge. The brand’s dedicated EV architecture will also be used the future Maruti Suzuki and Toyota fully electric models.

Maruti Suzuki eVX Details

The carmaker’s Gujarat-based manufacturing facility will serve as production hub for the new Maruti eVX electric SUV and its Toyota counterpart. If reports are to be believed, the model will be 4300mm long, 1800mm wide and 1600mm high. That means, it will be as big as the Hyundai Creta EV. It’s reported to come with a wheelbase of 2700mm.

The production-ready Maruti eVX electric SUV is likely to stay true to its concept. Its concept version previews the brand’s new design language with features such as V-shaped headlamps, blanked off-grille, tall bonnet and a flat nose at the front. Some of its other design highlights was the sloping roofline, pronounced wheel arches, short overhangs, side cladding, high ground clearance, raked rear windscreen and tailgate.
