Maruti Suzuki EVX, Tata Curvv EV To Launch In 2024

The electric vehicle market is currently dominated by Tata Motors with close to 80% share in the Indian market. India’s largest carmaker is yet to enter the electric vehicle space; however, things will change in 2024. Maruti Suzuki will enter the electric segment with an all-new mid-sized SUV in 2024. On the other hand, Tata Motors will also launch the Curvv concept based electric SUV Coupe in early next year.

Maruti Suzuki had showcased the eVX electric SUV concept at the Auto Expo 2023. Our sources reveal that the production version of the Maruti eVX electric SUV will be launched in our market in the third quarter of 2024 (i.e. around Diwali season). It will rival the Mahindra XUV400 and the upcoming Creta EV. It is expected to receive a 60kWh battery pack with LFP blade cells. The new EVX electric SUV will be designed and developed on the born-EV platform. At the time of unveiling, Maruti Suzuki reveals that the new EV will have a range of 550km on a single charge.

This dedicated EV platform is expected to be used to develop future EVs from Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. Suzuki’s Gujarat-based manufacturing facility will serve as a production hub for the new Maruti eVX electric SUV and its Toyota counterpart. The new model will measure around 400mm in length, 1800mm in width and 1600mm in height, with a wheelbase of around 2700mm. Continue reading…

Tata Motors had showcased the Curvv EV concept in April 2022. The company had revealed the ICE version of the Curvv at the 2023 Auto Expo. It is confirmed that the production version of the Curvv SUV Coupe will be launched in 2024. The new SUV will be offered with ICE & electric powertrains. The electric SUV Coupe will rival the Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV and the upcoming EVs like Hyundai Creta EV, Kia AY electric SUV and the Maruti eVX.

The Tata Curvv SUV Coupe will be based on the GEN 2 platform, which is basically the heavily modified version of Tata’s ALFA platform. It is expected to get a larger battery pack with an estimated range close to 500km. More details..
