Maruti Suzuki Sold Over 9500 Units of Fronx Crossover In May

Maruti Suzuki has reportedly a significant rise in its sales, thanks to the rising demand for SUVs in the market. The company sold 143,708 cars and SUVs in domestic market in May 2023 that’s significantly higher than its sales in the same month last year. In fact, Maruti Suzuki sold close to 33,000 units of the Brezza, Fronx and the Grand Vitara last month.

The newly launched Fronx crossover has also received an overwhelming response from buyers. MSIL sold 9,683 units of the Fronx in May 2023. It was speculated that the Fronx could impact the sales of the Baleno hatchback that’s not the case in the first month of sales. The Baleno has been the top-selling model in the country with 18,733 units sold in May 2023. In fact, the Baleno’s year-on-year sales increased by 34.09 per cent.

The Hyundai Creta was the top-selling SUV in May with 14,449 units sold. The Tata Nexon is at second position with 14,423 units sold, while the Brezza is at 3rd position with 13,398 units sold last month. Tata Punch and Hyundai Venue secured 4th and 5th position, while the Maruti Fronx manages to beat the Kia Sonet to grab 6th position in the list of top-selling SUVs in May 2023.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is available with two engine options – 1.0-litre 3-cylinder Boosterjet petrol and a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol. While the former is a good for 100bhp and 147.6Nm of torque, the later produces 90bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual, an AMT with 1.2L engine and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with 1.0L turbo petrol. The 1.2L petrol version is claimed to return an ARAI certified mileage of 21.79kmpl (MT) & 22.98kmpl (AT). The 1.0L manual and automatic delivers 21.5kmpl and 20.01kmpl respectively.
