Maruti might launch 2014 Swift facelift with AMT gearbox

New 2014 Maruti Swift and Swift Dzire Facelift Coming in 2014

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti is expected to launch the facelifted version of Swift hatchback in July, 2014. The company will also introduce the Swift Dzire facelift; however, the exact launch date is yet to be announced. If media reports to believe, Maruti will introduce the Swift facelift and Dzire facelift with AMT gearbox.

It was speculated that Maruti Dzire will get the AMT gearbox and now, the media reports suggests that the company is now planning to launch the AMT version of its flagship hatchback Swift. This AMT transmission will surely give the Swift hatchback a competitive edge over competitors. Tata Motors will launch the Bolt and Zest hatchback in the country. While the Zest will be launched by the July this year, the Bolt is likely to make its Indian debut by the festive season. The Tata Zest compact sedan will come with AMT gearbox, while the Bolt hatch is also rumored to come with AMT.

Tata Zest diesel version will get the AMT gearbox, and the same is expected with Bolt hatchback. However, the Swift siblings will get AMT with petrol powetrains. This could give a competitive edge to Tata Zest over the Swift Dzire.

The updated Maruti Swift has already been launched in Japan and several European nations. This hatchback gets some subtle upgrades to both exteriors and interiors. The vehicle will feature daytime running lights, outside rear view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, restyled rear centre stop light and others. Inside the cabin, the facelifted model will get a push start button, new music system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX interface, new seat upholstery and electrically adjustable ORVMs. The top-of-the line model is likely to get the automatic headlamps.
