The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Grand Vitara SUVs are surely two major launches from the Indo-Japanese automaker in the country. Both models have been receiving overwhelming response from buyers resulting over 4.12 lakh pending orders by the end of September. With an aim to reduce backlog, the company is planning to increase product at its Manesar plant. Recently, the automaker revealed that it might ramp up production capacity of the Manesar-based facility by one lakh units before starting operations at its new Sonipat plant in 2025. At present, Maruti Suzuki’s cumulative production capacity at both Manesar and Gurugram facilities stand at 15 lakh units per annum. Furthermore, Suzuki’s Gujarat-based plant manufactures 7.50 lakh units on annual basis. The company expects that its new Kharkhoda facility in Haryana will get operational by 2025. In the first phase, Maruti Suzuki will invest Rs 11,000 crore for the new Sonipat plant that will manufacture 2.5 lakh units. The automaker will also invest over Rs 7,000 crore this year on construction of the new Haryana-based plant and new model launches.
Talking about Maruti Suzuki’s product plants, the Indo-Japanese automaker will showcase three major UVs (Utility Vehicles) at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. The lineup will include the new Baleno-based compact coupe SUV, 5-door Jimny lifestyle off-road SUV and a new C-segment MPV. The Maruti Baleno Cross will be the first model to hit roads. It’s reported to come with a new 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid SHVS system and integrated starter generator (ISG).
The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny is likely to go on sale by mid 2023 and the MPV might come in the second half of 2023. Rumour has it that the company might also showcase the new-generation Maruti Swift at the Delhi Auto Expo. The automaker will also bring in CNG versions of the new Alto hatchback and Brezza SUV.
