Upcoming Maruti YTB SUV Interior, Features Will Be Similar to Baleno

Maruti Suzuki YTB (codename), the upcoming compact SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker, is all set to make its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo next year. The model is currently doing test rounds and caught on camera multiple times. The latest spy images show its interior that has a 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system similar to the Baleno hatchback. In fact, its dashboard design, steering wheel and adjustable headrests seem to be carried forward from its hatchback sibling.

Design and styling of the new Maruti compact SUV is likely to be inspired by the Grand Vitara that recently went on sale in India. It will feature a pronounced front grille with horizontal slats, split projector headlamps with 3 pod LED DRLs, wide air intakes, raked front windshield and clamshell bonnet.

The YTB has a coupe-like roofline that differentiate from the Grand Vitara and Baleno hatch. Styling elements such as black plastic cladding all around the body, squared off wheel arches, newly-designed 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and an integrated spoiler on the boot lid will add more to its sporty appearance. Unlike the Maruti Grand Vitara that underpins Suzuki’s Global-C platform, the Maruti YTB (Baleno Cross) will be designed on Heartect platform.

If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti YTB (Maruti Baleno Cross) will mark return of the 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine. Though, this time around the motor will comply with the BS6 emission norms. It will be boosted with a 48V mild hybrid SHVS system and integrated starter generator.

The power and torque outputs will be around 100bhp and 150Nm respectively. The new Maruti compact SUV can be had with either a manual or an automatic gearbox. The lower variant of the Baleno Cross could be offered with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine with both manual and AMT gearbox options.
