Maruti Suzuki had launched the Brezza sub-4 meter SUV in the first week of July 2022. The compact SUV has received an overwhelming response from car buyers, as it records over 1 lakh bookings in past 3-4 months. It also regains the top-spot in the list of best-selling SUVs by beating the likes of the Tata Nexon and the Hyundai Venue. In order to further improve sales, the company is now planning to launch the CNG version of the Maruti Brezza.
The Maruti Brezza will be India’s first SUV to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit. MSIL hasn’t reveal any information about the Brezza CNG; however, leaked info reveals that the price reveal could happen in the next few months. The CNG version will be offered in all 4 trims – LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. This also reveals that the Brezza could be the 1st CNG model to feature automatic gearbox.
Technical details are yet to be revealed; however, we believe that the Brezza CNG wil share the mechanics with the Ertiga CNG. It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre K15C DualJet petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. This engine produces 87bhp and 122Nm of torque, which is a significant drop from the regular Brezza’s petrol. The Ertiga CNG is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 26.08km/kg.
The Maruti Brezza petrol manual is priced in the range of Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 12.30 lakh. The CNG version is expected to cost around 90,000 more than the respective variant. On the other hand, the Brezza petrol automatic is priced between Rs 10.97 lakh and Rs 13.80 lakh. It is expected that the Brezza CNG could cost around 8.90 lakh to Rs 14.70 lakh.
Not just Brezza, the new Baleno and the Alto K10 will also receive factory-fitted CNG kit. The new models are likely to be launched in the coming months. The Alto K10 CNG is expected to share the engine with the Celerio’s CNG, which has 1.0L Dualjet petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG. This version delivers 56.7PS and 82Nm of torque, and is claimed to return a fuel economy of 35.6km/kg.
