2018 Mahindra XUV500 1

Mahindra’s new 2.0L diesel engine will deliver 3 different power outputs – 140bhp, 150bhp and 185bhp.

It’s no secret that Mahindra & Mahindra is working on a new 2.0L diesel engine that will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The new powertrain will be used in the new-generation Mahindra Thar, Scorpio and XUV500. According to Autocar, Mahindra’s new all-aluminum 2.0L diesel motor will be tuned for generating three power outputs – 140bhp, 150bhp and 185bhp.

The new Mahindra Thar that will ditch the existing 105bhp, 2.5L diesel engine, will witness a significant power jump. The SUV’s new-generation model will receive the 140bhp version of the new 2.0L motor. Its torque output will be over 300Nm. The new Mahindra Scorpio will receive 150bhp version of the company’s new oil burner.

The next-generation Mahindra XUV500, with the new 2.2L diesel engine, will be 30bhp more powerful than the current model that generates 155bhp with 360Nm of torque. The SUV will get the 185bhp version of the new diesel motor.

Mahindra’s new 2.0L oil burner will surely be cleaner, more powerful and expensive than its replacements. That means, the company’s new-generation SUVs will be significantly pricier than their current models. Read – Mahindra Bolero SUV To Get A Generation Change

Therefore, most of the car manufacturers are in the process of upgrading their product lineup for the future stringent emission norms.
