Mahindra XUV300 Petrol To Get More Powerful Than Venue, Sonet

Mahindra XUV300 Sportz, the sportier version of the subcompact SUV, made its first public appearance at the last year’s Auto Expo. It was planned to launch in April 2020, but delayed multiple times due to different reasons. According to a fresh media report, the company is now gearing up to launch the XUV300 compact SUV with a more powerful petrol engine. The model lineup will receive a new 1.2L T-GDI gasoline motor delivering power worth 130bhp and 230Nm of torque, thus making it the most powerful vehicle in its segment. Its arch rivals – Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet come with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines offering 83bhp with 115Nm and 120bhp with 175Nm respectively. In fact, the 2021 Mahindra XUV300 will get more powerful than the Ford EcoSport’s 121bhp, 1.5L petrol and Tata Nexon’s 118bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol. The XUV300’s more powerful petrol variant will be available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It’s reported to be retailed alongside the existing 108bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol and 115bhp, 1.5L diesel powered variants.

The report further states that the brand’s new 1.2L turbo mStallion gasoline engine will be offered across all trims including W4, W6, W8 and W8 (O). Prices of the more powerful 2021 Mahindra XUV300 will surely be higher than the standard variants, which are available in the price range of Rs 7.59 lakh – Rs 13.3 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The Mahindra XUV300 Sportz, which was showcased at the Auto Expo, received a few cosmetic enhancements over the regular model. The model carries new body graphics and decals on the front doors with Sportz moniker along with the red-finished front brake calipers. It has all black interior with sporty red contrast stitching on the seats and red highlights on the dashboard.
