After releasing the exterior, Hyundai has now released the interior of the Casper micro SUV. This entry-level model will be the brand’s cheapest crossover. Hyundai Casper will be launched in the Korean market before the end of this year. It will be positioned below the Venue compact SUV in Hyundai’s global line-up.
In terms of proportions, the new Casper is 3,595mm long, 1,595mm wide and 1,575mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2.4 meters. It is based on the K1 compact car platform that also underpins the Hyundai Santro and the Grand i10 Nios. The new Casper is shorter and narrower than the Santro; however, it is taller than the later. The vehicle is claimed to offer practical cabin, as both front seats can be folded down to turn the Casper into a small camper.
The second row of seats can slide fore and aft by 160mm. The rear seats can also be folded down completely to raise the luggage carrying capacity. Adding to it, the second row seats can recline by up to 39 degrees. With sliding forward the rear seats, the Hyundai Casper can increase the cargo space to 301 litres.
The Hyundai Casper comes with seven airbags along with a host of driver and safety assistance systems. It gets lane-keeping assist, and forward-collision warning assist to high-beam assist, and adaptive cruise control. The micro SUV features a fully digital instrument console and a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system.
There’s no center console between the seats, which has been replaced by a small armrest with two cup holders positioned underneath. The bottom of the console accommodates gear lever, and physical buttons.
The new Hyundai Casper’s touchscreen infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of features, the micro SUV gets connected car tech, keyless entry, engine start/stop button, adjustable headrest, reverse camera, etc.
The Korean-spec Casper will be offered with two engine options – a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. The naturally aspirated engine will produce around 76bhp of power, and will be paired to a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
The 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will be the same unit that powers the Grand i10 Nios Turbo and the Aura Turbo. Paired to a 4-speed automatic gearbox, the new turbo unit will produce around 100bhp of power.
