The Mahindra Nuvosport will take on the Ford EcoSport. It might also affect the sales of the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. In fact, the vehicle might give stiff competition to Mahindra KUV100 and TUV300 as well since it will be positioned between these two.
With revised styling and SUV-ish stance, the Mahindra Nuvosport looks more refreshing and sportier than its replacement. The vehicle receives an all-new front fascia, while the rear profile looks more or less similar to the outgoing model. The front fascia the compact SUV features a narrower grille, significantly larger airdam, all-new headlamps, larger air dams, revised bumper, sporty bonnet, chrome surround fog lamps and silver skid plate. The car also sports daytime running lamps that are positioned above the headlights in an eyebrow like shape. While the front of the Mahindra Nuvosport looks completely different from the Quanto’s, the rear profile remains largely unchanged. It gets a new spare wheel cover and clear lens taillights. The side profile is enhanced by black plastic body cladding, roof spoiler and pronounced wheel arches with new alloy wheels.
The interior of the NuvoSport is slightly more up-market than that of the Mahindra Quanto. The car gets improved material quality on centre console along with a new beige dashboard and new dual-tone black and beige leather seats. Though the overall layout remain unchanged. The top-ragging model is loaded with a 2-DIN infotainment system with touchscreen, 8-way adjustable seats with lumbar support, cruise control, air conditioning unit, dual airbags etc. An ABS (anti-lock braking system) comes as standard safety feature across all variants, while dual airbag protection is available only on the higher trims. This compact SUV comes with 7-seats layout that enables seven occupants to be seated without any squeezing effect. Though, the rear seat is good for kids only.
The Mahindra NuvoSport is being offered with the same 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder mHawk80 diesel engine that comes with two driving modes – PWR (Power) and ECO (Economy). This powertrain has been borrowed from the Mahindra TUV300. Though, it has been tuned for achieving better mileage figures. This oil burner is capable of generating 100bhp of power at 3750rpm and 240Nm of torque between 1600rpm – 2800rpm (in power mode). In ECO mode, the same power mill pushes out 71.6bhp of power at 3250rpm and 180Nm of torque at 1600rpm – 2100rpm. Transmissions on offer are – a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. Mahindra claims that the NuvoSport returns an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 17.45kmpl.
