Mahindra NuvoSport Rivals

The Mahindra Nuvosport will take on the Ford EcoSport. It might also affect the sales of the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. In fact, the vehicle might give stiff competition to Mahindra KUV100 and TUV300 as well since it will be positioned between these two.

Mahindra NuvoSport Exterior

With revised styling and SUV-ish stance, the Mahindra Nuvosport looks more refreshing and sportier than its replacement. The vehicle receives an all-new front fascia, while the rear profile looks more or less similar to the outgoing model. The front fascia the compact SUV features a narrower grille, significantly larger airdam, all-new headlamps, larger air dams, revised bumper, sporty bonnet, chrome surround fog lamps and silver skid plate. The car also sports daytime running lamps that are positioned above the headlights in an eyebrow like shape. While the front of the Mahindra Nuvosport looks completely different from the Quanto’s, the rear profile remains largely unchanged. It gets a new spare wheel cover and clear lens taillights. The side profile is enhanced by black plastic body cladding, roof spoiler and pronounced wheel arches with new alloy wheels.

Maahindra NuvoSport Interior

The interior of the NuvoSport is slightly more up-market than that of the Mahindra Quanto. The car gets improved material quality on centre console along with a new beige dashboard and new dual-tone black and beige leather seats. Though the overall layout remain unchanged. The top-ragging model is loaded with a 2-DIN infotainment system with touchscreen, 8-way adjustable seats with lumbar support, cruise control, air conditioning unit, dual airbags etc. An ABS (anti-lock braking system) comes as standard safety feature across all variants, while dual airbag protection is available only on the higher trims. This compact SUV comes with 7-seats layout that enables seven occupants to be seated without any squeezing effect. Though, the rear seat is good for kids only.

Mahindra NuvoSport Engine & Transmission

The Mahindra NuvoSport is being offered with the same 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder mHawk80 diesel engine that comes with two driving modes – PWR (Power) and ECO (Economy). This powertrain has been borrowed from the Mahindra TUV300. Though, it has been tuned for achieving better mileage figures. This oil burner is capable of generating 100bhp of power at 3750rpm and 240Nm of torque between 1600rpm – 2800rpm (in power mode). In ECO mode, the same power mill pushes out 71.6bhp of power at 3250rpm and 180Nm of torque at 1600rpm – 2100rpm. What is the fuel efficiency of N8 & N8 amt models

    • Editorial Team

      June 26, 2016 at 8:10 PMJun

The claimed fuel efficiency of both the models is 17.45kmpl. There’s no difference in fuel efficiency between the AMT and non-AMT variants.

  23. Mazhar Abbas

    July 1, 2016 at 8:10 AMJul

I like the front looks but it’s flat sideways and has a barren back giving it a box like shape. Front is quite muscular but it would have been better if the car could have retained a muscular look overall. Also Nuvosport doesn’t come with rear AC vent, not even in top variant. Is that a problem, because it will be hot for passengers on third row? Cool air from the front will be blocked by head rests of middle row. Also looking into the height, the length of the car is too short. It is shorter than TUV 300. Does it make the vehicle look disproportionate? Please suggest as I am planning to buy a compact 7 seater SUV.

    • Editorial Team

      July 14, 2016 at 8:10 PMJul

Since it’s not as long vehicle as the Scorpio and the AC unit given is pretty alright, it should not be a problem. In terms of looks, we find the TUV300 to be a slightly better than the NuvoSport. From the rear, it looks more or less similar to the Quanto.

    • Editorial Team

      July 19, 2016 at 8:10 PMJul

While the base variant will cost you around Rs 9 lakh, the top-of-the-line variant will come at Rs 12.5 lakh (on-road) in Bangalore. Since there isn’t much waiting period on the car, you should be able to get it delivered within max 2-3 weeks.

I intend to purchase a NuvoSport. My observation is (1) For rear seats A/C vent must have been there.I think, there is no parking sensor and keyless entry.
