KTM 790 Duke to be Launched in India on September 23, 2019

Austria’s automaker, KTM has officially announced the long-awaited middleweight naked motorcycle – 790 Duke in the Indian market on September 23, 2019. Select KTM dealerships have already started taking pre-orders for the motorcycle at a token amount of Rs 30,000. It is expected to be priced competitively in the country with prices likely around Rs 8 lakh.

Once launched, the KTM Duke 790 will be the brand’s most expensive and the most powerful in India. Powering the motorcycle is a 799cc parallel-twin liquid cooled engine that is capable of producing 103bhp of maximum power and 86Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.

The motorcycle is based on a chromoly trellis frame with a one-piece aluminium rear subframe for a lightweight construction. With minimal body panels, the KTM Duke 790 weighs just 189kg. The motorcycle packs an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 612bhp per tonne.

It is expected that the KTM 790 Duke will arrive in our market as a completely knocked down. Only 100 units are likely to be allocated for the first year. It is rumoured to be offered in BS4 version, while the BS6 compliant model will arrive in 2020.

The KTM 790 Duke is loaded with high-end features like inverted pitchfork LED headlamp and taillight, a TFT screen, WP-sourced USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear, 9-level traction control, ride-by-wire with four riding modes, cornering ABS with Supermoto mode, bi-directional quickshifter and wheelie control. It gets 300mm dual discs at the front with radial mounted J-Juan calipers and a 240mm single disc at the rear. The motorcyclr rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.
