Aprilia 150cc Motorcycle Launch At Auto Expo 2020

Aprilia RS 150 India

Italian two-wheeler automaker, Aprilia had showcased 2 new 150cc motorcycles – Tuono and RS 150 at the Auto Expo 2018. It was speculated that Piaggio will bring these motorcycles to our market in 2020. A new media report claims that Piaggio will launch a 150cc Aprilia motorcycle at the Auto Expo 2020.

The report further claims that the new motorcycle will be joined by an all-new family scooter. The new Aprilia 150cc motorcycle is in its final stages of testing. The company had showcased the Aprilia GPR 150 at a dealer’s meet in Goa earlier this year. It is expected that Piaggio could launch the GPR 150 instead of the RS 150 or the Tuono in our market.

The upcoming 150cc bike will be produced in India, which suggests that the bike could carry different specifications than the one available in the international market. Piaggio could adopt Yamaha’s strategy for the new 150cc motorcycle. For people not in the know, the India-spec Yamaha R15 V3.0 features conventional telescopic front forks instead of the inverted front forks in the Indonesian model.

The Piaggio’s 150cc bike will be equipped with disc brakes and a dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System). The new model will sit above the R15 V3 in terms of pricing. The Aprila RS 150 is powered by a 150cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 18PS of power at 10,000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 7,500rpm.

Piaggio is readying an all-new model for the Indian market. The upcoming scooter is reportedly to be called the Comfort. Instead of the quirky design, the new scooter could carry a conventional family-oriented styling. It is likely to get a large seat, bigger footboard, a bigger under-seat storage area and telescopic front forks, and an optional front disc brake. The new Aprilia scooter will share a BS-VI compliant 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor. In the current form, this engine pumps out 9.51bhp of power at 7,250rpm and 9.9Nm of torque at 6,250rpm.
