Fiat will bring the Jeep brand in the Indian market next year. The Wrangler will be the first product to come India, which will be followed by the Grand Cherokee. It was speculated that Fiat will unveil the Jeep at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, that didn’t happen. While the Wrangler is a true off-roader with butch looks and power, the Cherokee is a more luxurious urban SUV.

Jeep Wrangler SUV

First launched in 1986, the Wrangler SUV is currently in its fourth generation. It is basically the divine successor to the iconic Willys Jeep. The styling of this off-roader is based on the original Jeep and the retro appeal is evident. At the front, this model gets round headlights, indicators and fog lamps which complements the seven hole slotted grille. The side indicators are positioned on the wheel arch. The hinges are exposed, while the bumpers get the matte black paint finish.

The side profile of the SUV has short length and the massive wheels get the Wrangler badge. The antenna is placed on the side as well, closer to the hood. The rear profile is simple with the spare wheel mounted on the hatch door covered by a cloth with Jeep embossed on it. The reflectors are placed on the bumper, while the tail lights are smaller in size. The vehicle has a high ground clearance which adds to its sporty character.

The SUV will come to India in the standard wheelbase two doors variant and the long wheelbase four doors variant. Both models will get the 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 200PS and 460Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a five-speed automatic gearbox which sends the power to all-4 wheels. The off-roader will be brought here via the CBU route; however, the company might later locally assembled the SUV.

Expected Launch Date: Early 2015

Expected Price: Rs. 25-30 lakh
