Jeep Compass To Get An Affordable Diesel-AT Variant Before Diwali
The American SUV manufacturer recently added a new trail-rated, top-end variant to the Compass SUV lineup. Called Jeep Compass Trailhawk, the new model comes with the diesel-automatic gearbox combination and priced at Rs 26.8 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it around Rs 3.7 lakh more expensive than the Compass Limited Plus.
According to latest media report, the company will soon bring in an affordable diesel-automatic variant of the Compass SUV. It’s likely to come with the BS6-ready 173bhp, 2.0L diesel engine paired to a 9-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Read – New Jeep 7-Seater SUV To Challenge Toyota Fortuner
The carmaker might offer diesel-automatic combination on the entry-level or mid-level variants of the SUV. Additionally, the Compass’ new affordable diesel-AT model might get the front-wheel-drive (FWD) system. It’s likely to hit showrooms before this Diwali season. Official announcement, however, is yet to be made.
Reports suggest that Jeep is working on the Compass facelift that will see a release sometime in 2020. The updated version is likely to witness minor design changes along with a bunch of new features. The 2020 Jeep Compass might also receive a new 1.3L, 4-cylinder FireFly turbocharged petrol engine instead of 1.4L MultiAir unit.
The new petrol powertrain will deliver two power outputs – 150PS with 270Nm and 180PS with 270Nm. The Compass facelift might receive the latter one. Besides this, the updated model might get new connected car technology, ventilated seats, new upholstery, a head-up-display, etc.
