India’s 3 Popular Hatchbacks Soon Get CNG Variants

With the increasing demand of CNG cars, auto manufacturers are planning to offer CNG options on their existing model lineup in the coming months. The range will include multiple CNG hatchbacks, subcompact SUVs and MPVs from automakers including Maruti Suzuki (Baleno, Ciaz, Brezza), Hyundai (Venue), Tata (Punch, Nexon) and Toyota (Innova Crysta).

If you are looking for compact CNG cars, there will be three new models which are ready to hit roads. Here’re key details of the soon-to-be launched CNG hatchbacks.

Maruti Baleno CNG

2022 Maruti Baleno Price List

The Indo-Japanese automaker is planning to introduce CNG models on its Arena and Nexa product lineup. The new Maruti Baleno CNG is ready to hit roads in coming months. The model will use the 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine with the factory-fitted CNG kit. The gasoline unit makes a top power of 89PS and 113Nm of torque. While the regular petrol model delivers a claimed mileage of over 22kmpl, the CNG version is likely to offer fuel efficiency of 25kmpl.

2021 Maruti Swift Facelift

Maruti Suzuki’s one of the top-selling hatchbacks – Swift – will soon receive CNG variants. Similar to the Dzire CNG, the Maruti Swift CNG will come with the 1.2L Dualjet K12C petrol engine with a CNG kit. In the CNG mode, the hatchback will deliver a peak power of 70bhp and 95Nm of torque. It’s power (11bhp) and torque (18Nm) outputs are lesser than the regular petrol unit respectively.

Toyota Glanza CNG

New Toyota Glanza CNG Mileage

The 2022 Toyota Glanza CNG is reported to launch in coming months. Its powertrain system will include a 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine coupled to a factory-fitted CNG kit. It’s likely to be offered on lower and mid-spec variants. The Glanza CNG will return fuel efficiency of 25kmpl.
