The Indo-Japanese automaker recently rolled out the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG variants (VXi and ZXi), priced at Rs 8.14 lakh and Rs 8.82 lakh respectively. Now, the company is planning to further expand its CNG model lineup in coming months. Maruti’s new CNG range will include both Arena and Nexa models. Speaking to Autocar, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director – Sales and Marketing, Maruti Suzuki, has revealed that the company will bring in the CNG version of Nexa models such as Ciaz sedan and Baleno premium hatchback.
In its Arena range, Maruti Suzuki will introduce the factory-fitted CNG kit on the Swift hatchback, Brezza subcompact SUV and Ertiga MPV. While the former is ready to witness a generation in April 2022, the latter will receive a mid-update in coming days. The Maruti Swift CNG will come with the 1.2L Dualjet K12C petrol engine with the factory-fitted CNG kit delivering power worth 70bhp and 95Nm of torque.
Considering customers’ feedback, the company will offer CNG kit on higher trims. As of now, these are limited to select variants. Srivastava has also revealed that the around 15 percent of the company’s sales comes from CNG models and segment-wise its around 30 percent. Maruti Suzuki’s CNG models are currently observing longer waiting period.
In fresh updates, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is ready to launch the 2022 Maruti Ertiga and XL6 facelifts. Both models have already started arriving at dealerships across the nation. Launch date, however, is yet to be announced. The new Ertiga and XL6 will come with slightly improved design, a bunch of new features and a new 6-speed automatic gearbox replacing the existing 4-speed torque convertor unit.
No changes will be made to the engine set. The MPV will use the same 1.5L K15 naturally aspirated petrol motor that’s good enough for 104bhp and 138Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox will continue to come as standard.
