Hyundai, the South Korean automaker has released the official sketches of the much-awaited- i20 Active crossover. A couple of days back, few of the official images of the pseudo crossover have been leaked on the web. The maker has also revealed the launch details of the car, which is scheduled to go on sale in March, 2015 in the country. The i20 Active has been designed at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Russelsheim, Germany, says the company.
The Hyundai i20 Active crossover will be the fourth Hyundai in the country to make its global premiere in the country. According to Hyundai, “The i20 Active adopts a ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language- completing a more sporty, sharper and bold look. The ‘i20 Active’, SUV appearance conveys athletic presence and aggressive side-profile rake.”
Hyundai India has made good changes to the exterior styling of the crossover to add some sporty touch to it. It is equipped with a new skid plate, projector headlamp with daytime running lights and large fog lamps. The rear end of the crossover has a restyled rear bumper with circular reflector elements and silver skid plate. The flared wheel arches have been fitted to new 17-inch alloys, while the extra body cladding, roof rails and spoiler to offer sporty feel. The ground clearance is also expected to be slightly raised.
Mechanically, the i20 Active will get the same 1.2-litre petrol unit producing 83PS and 115Nm of torque and the 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel is good for 90PS and 220Nm of torque.
