Hyundai India has confirmed that the launch of the much-awaited i20 Active crossover aka Elite i20 Cross in the country will take place on March 18, 2015. The company has recently released few of the sketches of the pseudo crossover; however, fully undisguised images of the car have already hit the web.
Based on the Elite i20 hatchback, the crossover will rival against the likes of Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Cross Polo. The company has made slight changes to both exteriors and interiors to add some sporty touch to it. At the front, the crossover has new skid plate, projector headlamp with daytime running lights and large fog lamps. The rear has restyled bumper with circular reflector elements and silver skid plate. There is an extra plastic body cladding and new alloy wheels to add some freshness.
The ground clearance is slightly increased to 170mm, while the suspensions will be tweaked to tackle rugged road conditions in a better way. Inside the cabin, the crossover is likely to get an upgraded infotainment system. New exterior shades are also expected to be on offer. The Hyundai i20 Active will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol unit is the 1.2-litre motor that is good for 83PS and 115Nm of torque, the oil burner is the 1.4-litre CRDi unit producing 90PS and 220Nm of torque.
