Hyundai 7-Seater MPV To Rival Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: Spied Testing

The upcoming Hyundai 7-Seater compact MPV will be launched in India and other Asian markets in 2021.

The much-anticipated new Hyundai 7-Seater compact MPV has been spotted testing for the first time in South Korea. The Korean automaker is likely to introduce this 7-seater MPV in India as well as in select International markets in 2021.

The upcoming Hyundai 7-seater compact MPV will be positioned against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Mahindra Marazzo. The MPV is also expected to be launched in Indonesia, where it will challenge the likes of the Toyota Avanza, Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio. If reports are to be believed, Hyundai will first launch the new MPV in Indonesia in the second half of 2021.

Hyundai will start manufacturing facility in Indonesia in 2021 and the new compact MPV could be the first model to be rolled out from this facility. This facility will have a production facility of 1.5 lakh. Not just MPV, Hyundai will also produce new SUVs and sedans at this production facility.

Hyundai is currently testing 2 utility vehicles in Indonesia and both will be introduced in our market in 2021. The company will launch the 7-seater version of the new Creta SUV in early 2021, which will be followed by a compact MPV in the second half of the next year. The new model will be designed and developed on the new Hyundai K2 platform, which also underpins the new Creta and the Kia Seltos. In fact, Kia Motors is also developing an all-new compact MPV for the developing nations. This MPV will also arrive in our market and will share the platform with the Hyundai’s MPV.

It is visible that the Hyundai compact MPV features a conventional MPV design with modern design elements. The new model will look much more premium and aggressive than its direct rival – Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. It will come with Hyundai’s signature cascading grille and split headlamp set-up similar to that of the new Creta. The MPV will have strong creases and curves, slimmer headlamps and ORVMs, LED tail-lamps and roof-integrated spoiler.

The spy images also reveal that the new Hyundai compact MPV will have sharply rising belt line, vertically stacked LED tail-lamps and flush roof rails and shark fin antenna. The interior of the upcoming MPV will be shared with the new Creta SUV. It will receive a large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Hyundai BlueLink connected car technology, automatic climate control, wireless charging and many more.

The new Hyundai compact MPV is likely to be offered with BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. While the former is good for 113bhp and 144Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic versions are likely to be on offer.
