Honda Civic off to a Flying Start; Receives Huge Bookings

The new Honda Civic has received over 1,600 bookings in less than 1 month.

Honda has recently launched the much-awaited new-generation Civic sedan in India at a starting price of Rs 17.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company had started taking pre-orders for the all-new Civic sedan on 15th February. The saloon is getting tremendous response from buyers as the bookings have already crossed 1600 in less than 1 month. The booking number is three times the monthly sales in its league.

The new Honda Civic directly rivals the Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla Altis and Skoda Octavia. Currently, Toyota Corolla is the best-selling model in its category with monthly sales stood at 212 units. While the Elantra’s sales averaged 80 units per month, the Skoda Octavia sales stood at 185 units per month.

Close to 85 percent of the total bookings are for the gasoline version. Moreover, the top-end variants account for close to 80 percent of the total bookings. The new Civic sedan is available in 3 petrol variants – V, VX and ZX – priced at Rs 17.69 lakh, Rs 19.19 lakh and Rs 20.99 lakh respectively. While the VX MT diesel trim costs Rs 20.49 lakh, the fully-loaded ZX MT model is priced at Rs 22.29 lakh.

The new Honda Civic sedan will be available with 2 engine options – a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder i-DTEC diesel and a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder i-VTEC petrol. While the former makes 118bhp with 300Nm of torque, the latter one delivers 139bhp with 174Nm. The petrol variants are offered with CVT gearbox only, and the diesel trims are available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
