Shelby Super Snake and other Shelby cars coming to India; launch this year
Pune-based AJP Group is planning to introduce the Ford Shelby nameplate in India
Seeing the growing market, globally renowned automakers are ready to enter into the Indian market. Pune-based AJP Group is planning to introduce the Shelby nameplate in India. The performance cars from Shelby will be assembled at AJ Performance Studio in partnership with Shelby in India.
The first Shelby model for the Indian market is expected to be launched in the second half of 2019. It is expected that the new models will come at a price tag of around Rs 2 crore. The Indian market will receive cars made by Shelby like Shelby Cobra and Shelby Super Snake.
The homegrown AJ Group is the technical partner of Shelby in India. The Group will be responsible to customise and sell Shelby cars in our market. It is expected that the Shelby Super Snake will be the first car from the custom performance vehicle maker in India. It is based on the Ford Mustang Coupe, which is powered by a supercharged Ford 5.0-litre V8 engine. This model is claimed to achieve 0-96kmph in mere 3.5 seconds.
The Shelby Super Snake is fitted to a Ford Performance 710bhp supercharger in black and Shelby’s components like aluminum tank, heat exchanger and radiator for extreme cooling. Other mechanical bits include performance half shafts, short-throw shifter, a Ford Performance exhaust and transmission cooling. It rides on 20-inch forged aluminum wheels shod with Shelby performance tyres. The Shelby Super Snake gets Brembo brake system. The vehicle gets Shelby-engineered body kit including new grille, hood, front splitter, rear tail panel and diffuser.
