Ford India is planning to bring in a special edition of the Endeavour premium SUV. Called the Ford Endeavour Sport Edition, the new model was recently caught on camera without any camouflage in Tamil Nadu. In spy picture, you can notice the ‘Sport’ badge on the lower part of the rear door and on the tailgate. The rear bumper seems to have chrome finish. As of now, the design and feature detail of the new Endeavour model are scanty. Though, it’s likely to be offered with some extra features and minor styling upgrades.
There is no confirmation whether the new Ford Endeavour Sport will be offered as a special edition or a new variant similar to the newly-launched Ford Freestyle Flair Edition. At present, the Endeavour comes with a new 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel engine paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The motor pushes out a peak power of 170bhp and 420Nm of torque. The new special edition is likely to be offered with the same powertrain.
The Endeavour’s new edition will be positioned against the 2020 Toyota Fortuner TRD that comes in 4X2 and 4X4 diesel automatic variants. While the 4X2 automatic diesel model is available at Rs 34.98 lakh, the 4X4 automatic variant costs Rs 36.88 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
In August 2020, the American carmaker increased prices of the Ford Endeavour by up to Rs 1.20 lakh. Now, the premium SUV comes in the price range of Rs 29.99 lakh (for the base Titanium 4X2 variant) and Rs 34.45 lakh (for the top-spec Titanium+ 4X4 variant). The new Endeavour Sport Edition is likely to be priced slightly premium over the existing variants. While its official launch date and details are yet to be confirmed by the carmaker, it’s likely to hit showrooms during this Diwali season.
