BS6 Volkswagen Vento, Polo To Get A More Powerful 1.0L Petrol Engine
Volkswagen India will upgrade its popular Vento sedan and Polo hatchback to meet the upcoming BS6 emission standards that will come into effect from 1st April, 2020. The BS6-compliant version of the Volkswagen Vento and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI will be offered with 1.0L TSI petrol engine generating power close to 115PS and 200Nm. The same engine will also be used in the upcoming BS6 Skoda Rapid sedan. The gasoline motor will come with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. One must note that the new BS6-compliant 1.0L TSI petrol engine will be exclusively offered on the Polo GT TSI variant.
The Volkswagen Vento’s 1.2L TSI petrol, 1.5L TDI diesel and 1.6L MPI petrol engines will be discontinued. The carmaker will also phase out the Polo’s 1.5L diesel engine. The BS6 Volkswagen Vento and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI are likely to be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. Both models will go on sale before April, 2020. The updated models will surely be more expensive than their BS4 versions.
