Big SUV Unveiling At 2023 Auto Expo – Expected List

The Delhi Auto Expo is all set to begin on 13th January 2023 at India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida. The biennial automotive extravaganza will witness several new models and concepts unveiling across different segments. Car manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Toyota will showcase a range of new SUVs at the 2023 Auto Expo. Here’re some key details of the 8 major upcoming SUVs.

Maruti Baleno Cross

The all-new Maruti Baleno Cross is surely one of the much-anticipated new car launches of the next year. It will be a compact SUV based on the Baleno hatchback that will share some of its design bits with the new Grand Vitara. Designed on Suzuki’s Global C platform, the Baleno Cross will come with the BS6-ready Boosterjet turbo petrol engine. The 5-door Maruti Jimny will be based on the ladder frame chassis similar to its replacement – Gypsy. Under the hood, the lifestyle off-road SUV will feature a 1.5L K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine boosted with the mild hybrid tech. The setup will deliver power worth 101bhp and 137Nm of torque. There will be two gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV will come with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro AWD system as we have seen in the Grand Vitara. Hyundai Motor India will put up the updated Creta SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. Significant design changes will be made to it along with a few feature upgrades. Though, key highlight will be the ADAS (advanced driving assistance system) suite offering multiple advanced safety features. The SUV will continue to come with the 115bhp, 1.5L NA petrol, 115bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel and 140bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol engine options. Hyundai Micro SUV

Reports suggest that the South Korean automaker might unveil its all-new micro SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. It will be the smaller than the Venue and positioned against the Tata Punch SUV. The new Hyundai mini SUV is expected to measure around 3.7-3.8 metres in length. The model could be based on Hyundai’s K1 platform that also underpins the Grand i10 Nios. For power, the micro SUV might use the Grand i10 Nios’ 1.2L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. The motor makes a top power of 83bhp and 114Nm of torque.

Tata Punch EV

There is a possibility Tata Motors might showcase the Punch EV in its concept avatar at the Auto Expo 2023. Similar to its petrol iteration, the electric version will underpin the Alfa platform that compatible to multiple body styles, hybrid and pure electric powertrains. The Tata Punch EV will come with the brand’s updated version of Tata’s Ziptron powertrain technology. It’s expected to offer a range of over 300km on a single charge.

Tata Curvv EV concept that previews the brand’s future design philosophy, was first unveiled in April this year. The concept might make its first public appearance at the 2023 Auto Expo. It could be in its concept avatar or near-to-production version. The Curvv underpins the modified X1 platform that can accommodate bigger models and different battery packs. The 2023 Tata Harrier facelift could also make its first appearance at the Delhi Auto Expo. The SUV’s updated model will be high on features along with improved design. If reports are to be believed, the new Harrier will have ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite, a 360 degree camera and a larger infotainment system. Toyota Kirloskar Motor might unveil the new-generation Fortuner SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. The SUV’s new model is likely to come with the ADAS suite along with the electric power steering and vehicle stability control system. Major update will be made under the hood. The 2023 Toyota Fortuner will be powered by a 1GD-FTV 2.8L diesel engine benefited with the mild hybrid tech and an integrated starter generator (ISG).
