MG’s brand ambassador – Benedict Cumberbatch will promote MG Hector SUV in India
British carmaker, MG (Morris Garages) has today announced the British actor Benedict Cumberbatch as the MG Motor India’s brand ambassador. The acclaimed actor – known for his stellar roles in various popular TV shows and movies will be the face of MG India.
Benedict Cumberbatch commented on the association with MG brand, “I have grown up seeing and reading about MGB’s and MG Midgets, recognising MG as a classic and iconic brand. MG Motor will officially launch its first product – the MG Hector in India in the mid-2019, most probably around May-June. The company will reveal important details about the new SUV in April 2019. The MG Hector will be developed at the SAIC’s Halol based plant in Gujarat. This SUV will challenge the likes of Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and the Hyundai Tucson.
It is basically the re-engineered Baojun 530, which is on sale in the Chinese market. The SUV will be fitted to several segment-leading features including segment-largest sunroof, India’s first portrait 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment and 360 degree camera. The MG Hector will be available with 2 engine options – a 1.5-litre turbo petrol & a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel.
