The small SUV segment is getting highly popular among Indian buyers. In order to tap the opportunity and cash in on the 2021 Diwali season, car manufacturers such as Tata, Renault and Nissan recently introduced new models. Here’re prices and details of the affordable small SUVs that you can consider to buy this Diwali.
Tata Punch – Rs 5.49 – Rs 9.09 Lakh
Tata Punch is the first-ever micro SUV from the home-grown automaker in the country. It comes in Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative trims, which are priced between Rs 5.49 lakh – Rs 9.39 lakh (all, ex-showroom introductory). It’s the most affordable Tata SUV in India. Powering the mini SUV is a 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s good for 86bhp and 113Nm. It comes with both manual and AMT gearbox options. The company is offering three customization packs that vary variant-wise.
Renault Kiger – Rs 5.46 – Rs 10.09 Lakh
Launched earlier this year, the Renault Kiger is currently available within the price range of Rs 5.46 lakh – Rs 10.09 lakh. The subcompact SUV can be had with either a 72bhp, 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol or a 100bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol engine. While a 5-speed manual gearbox is standard, a 5-step CVT automatic is available only on turbo-petrol variants. There are three drive modes – Normal, Eco and Sports , which are reserved for the higher turbo petrol variants.
Nissan Magnite – Rs 5.71 – Rs 10.15 Lakh
Nissan Magnite, which was launched in December 2020, has been generating volume for the automaker in the country. Under the hood, the compact SUV features the 72bhp, 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol and 100bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol engines. The model lineup comes with the 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options. The same powertrain does duty in the Renault Kiger. The Magnite offers several segment-first features such as wireless smartphone connectivity, around view monitor and two screens.
Tata Nexon – Rs 7.28 – Rs 13.23 Lakh
Tata Nexon is currently the top-selling SUV in its segment. Prices of the compact SUV start from Rs 7.28 lakh and go up to Rs 13.23 lakh. The Nexon is being offered in 5 trims (XE, XM, XZ, XZ+ and XZ+ (O)) – with XM, XZ+ and XZ+ (O) offering optional AMT gearbox. It comes with two engine options – 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel delivering 110bhp with 170Nm and 110bhp with 260Nm respectively. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and an AMT.
