7 Upcoming Mahindra SUVs By 2024 – Thar 5-Door To New Bolero

Mahindra has recently launched the new Scorpio-N SUV with deliveries are scheduled to commence from September 26, 2022. The company has also announced to launch an all-new XUV400 electric SUV on September 8, 2022. Adding to it, the company is also preparing to introduce newer versions of its existing models including the XUV300 and the Bolero Neo. In this article, we talk about the top 7 new Mahindra SUVs to be launched in the country before the end of 2024 –

1. Mahindra XUV400

Scheduled to be launched on September 8, 2022, the new Mahindra XUV400 is essentially an electric version of the ICE-based XUV300. It is reportedly to measure around 4.2 meters in length, as compared to the 3,995mm long XUV300 compact SUV. The increase in size will help Mahindra to create more space inside the cabin as well as bigger boot. The new model is also likey to get several advanced features including ADAS tech and a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Adreno X connected car AI technology. The SUV will feature the high-energy-dense NMC battery sourced from LG Chem. It is reported that the cells are superior than the cylindrical LFP cells used in Tata’s Nexon EV. It is likely to deliver a range of over 400km on a full charge.

2. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

Mahindra has also confirmed that the new XUV300 facelift will be launched before the end of this year. The new model will come with design changes and upgraded cabin along with engine mechanism. It will have more turbo power than before. It will be powered by a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol T-GDI mStallion motor that produces 130bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. This is 20bhp more powerful and 30Nm torqueier than the existing 1.2L petrol engine. The current petrol engine produces 110bhp of power. It gets a 1.5L turbo-diesel engine that produces 115bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT.

3. Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus

Mahindra is also preparing a new & bigger Bolero Neo Plus for the Indian market. It will share its engine with the Thar off-road SUV. The SUV will receive the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with both manual and automatic gearboxes. The company might detuned the motor for the three-row Bolero Neo. It is reportedly to be offered in P4 and P10 trims and two seating layouts – 7 and 9 seats. There will also be an ambulance version with 4 seats and a patient bed. It will measure around 4,400mm in length, 1,795mm in width and 1,812mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,680mm.

4. Mahindra Thar 5-Door

Mahindra has announced to launch the new 5-door version of the Thar lifestyle SUV in 2023. It is expected to be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. It will ride on longer wheelbase compared to the 2-door model, which should help in offering more space inside the cabin. A 5-door model would offer a combination of both – ruggedness and more space for rear occupants. The SUV is also likely to come with a metal hard top. The 5-door Mahindra Thar will be offered with the same 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines, which powers the 3-door Thar. The engines are likely to be calibrated for extra power and torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

5. Next-gen Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra is also developing the next-gen Bolero lifestyle SUV, which is expected to be launched sometime in 2023-24. The new model will be designed and developed on the new Scorpio’s ladder-on-frame chassis, which is more stable and safer compared to the older chassis. The next gen Mahindra Bolero is also expected to grow in size, which should allow to create more space inside the cabin. It will be offered with the 2.2-litre turbo diesel and 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine options. The company could also use the Marazzo’s 1.5-litre turbo diesel and the new 1.5L mStallion turbo petrol engines. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are likely to be on offer.

6. Next-gen Mahindra XUV500 (Creta Rival)

Mahindra has replaced the XUV500 SUV by the XUV700. If media reports are to be believed, Mahindra is preparing an all-new SUV that will rival the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. This SUV is reportedly to be called the new Mahindra XUV500 and is likely to arrive in 2024. It will be a front-wheel-drive model and will sit between the XUV300 and the XUV700. The new model is expected to be offered with 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engine options.

7. Mahindra XUV700 Electric (XUV.e8)

Mahindra has revealed 5 electric SUV concepts at an event in the UK. These SUVs are designed on the brand’s new INGLO modular platform and will have a common battery pack design based on two cell architectures – Blade and Prismatic. The company has confirmed that the production-ready XUV.e model will arrive in December 2024 and the first BE electric SUV will hit roads in October 2025. In terms of proportions, the new Mahindra XUV.e8 is 4740mm long, 1900mm wide and 1760mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2762mm. It is 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm tall than the XUV700. The production-ready XUV.e8 will have a battery pack with range up to 80kWh and AWD system. Its power output will be between 230bhp – 350bhp.
