The Korean automaker, Hyundai has recently introduced the new Stargazer 3-row LMPV (Light Multi-Purpose Vehicle) in Indonesia. The new MPV is also expected to be launched in our market sometime in 2023; however, Hyundai is yet to make an official announcement on the same. A new media report claims that the company is also preparing a more rugged LSUV version of the Stargazer, which will soon launch in Indonesia.
The Hyundai Stargazer LMPV is positioned against the likes of the Toyota Veloz, Daihatsu Xenia, Mitsubishi Xpander, Suzuki Ertiga and the Honda Mobilio. On the other hand, the LSUV version of the Stargazer will rival the likes of the Honda BR-V, Toyota Rush, Mitsubishi Xpander Cross, Suzuki XL7 or XL6, etc. It is basically the more rugged and sportier version of the 3-row MPV.
The Hyundai Stargazer LSUV will come with a sportier front fascia with prominent grille and revised bumper with skid plate. It will also receive body cladding all around the body, functional roof-rails and bigger alloy wheels. It is expected to offer larger ground clearance compared to the LMPV version. Adding to it, the rugged model is likely to get adaptive cruise control, electronic parking brake with auto hold, Bose premium audio, Bluelink connected car tech and others. The Stargazer LSUV is expected to share most of the features with the Creta SUV and will continue to be offered in 6 and 7-seat layout.
Hyundai Stargazer Details
The Indonesian spec model is offered in 4 variants – Active, Trend, Style and Prime – priced between IDR 243,300,000 (approx INR 12.91 lakh) and IDR 307,100,000 (approx INR 16.30 lakh). It also comes with advanced driver assistant system (ADAS) with features like forward collsion-avoidance assist (FCA), lane keeping assist (LKA), blind-spot collision-avoidance assist (BCA) and rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist (RCCA).
In terms of proportions, the new Stargazer 3-row MPV is 4,460mm in length, 1,780mm in width and 1,695mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,780mm. The MPV is claimed to offer a boot space of 200-litres, which can be further extended to 585-litres by folding the third-row seat. The MPV has a kerb weight of 1,209kgs. It is powered by a 115bhp, 1.5L petrol engine with 6-speed manual and an IVT gearbox.
